All you do is disconnect the transmission from the motor, drop whatever is underneath it (exhaust, support bars whatever) and disconnect the driveshaft if it's a RWD car... it's not that complicated.
I had the transmission in my car built for $1500 and it has lived behind the power my car makes for over a year without issue... and the 4l60e transmissions are notoriously weak links in the drive train. It's lived daily with 415whp and driving in stop and go traffic in the over 100* heat.
I still have no idea what kind of transmission it is though, so 3k could be a steal if it's a complicated transmission like one of the 7spd automatics in the Benz's.
