My parents were very very poor.. They worked their ass of to give me and my sister everything they could..

Their doing ok now, but I remember in the 60's that I never had toys and to christmas every year I received a hardcover book.

We didn't have a tv until I was 13
We had no car, my dad took the train and bus to work
Our first car was a Fiat (Germany) I was 12
My mom made her driverslicense the same year I made mine. A license and school in Germany than was about 1000 German Marks. I made 150 Marks in my first year as Lehrling (apprentice)

Still great times and my parents are still married after 50 years and counting

Edit - No Internet - No TV
We read a lot
We played bicycle tag and ball tag
We spend most of our days outside, even when it rained
