Why? Because the things I would do on it I can do just as well (or better) than I could on a PC.
I can write scripts on it, I can check on the servers, I can surf, I can check email, etc..
I can't play games, I can't program windows executables (although I can do PHP and such just fine)..
But it's such a great OS it would be a fantastic laptop, and I wouldn't be compelled to keep it current since I wouldn't be doing stuff like playing games on it or doing hardcore WORK on it (that's what the PC is for)..

if your hardcore WORK includes editing, compressing and chopping digital video, it's pretty good for that too ;) it was a little over 5K + GST...
i just turned on the screen - magnificent.
800 mbs firewire - i'm stoked. 54 mbs wireless - i'm stoked.
and of course the usual built-in cd and dvd burner stuff is nice.
