Then China could hardly feed itself. Successive Governments have carried on this status.
But it's not only China. Over the years manufacturing has flowed out of the US to 3rd World countries. So companies could grow richer by selling cheap good to US customers and closing their factories.
And some 3rd World countries grew amazingly rich. Now China owns so much loans and bonds in the US economy they call the tune.
No you give Obama far too much credit for the downturn of the USA.
