Take money away from their DIRECT competitors and C, given the collaborative nature of scientific work couldn't actually be kept off wikileaks when one of the dozen team of medical researchers that found it and whose lives are committed to curing diseases couldn't deal with the guilt of millions of deaths on their hands, making Hitler look like a pussy?
That the team that found it DON'T want the nobel prize and to be remembered for all eternity as heroes and saviours of millions? That the company wouldn't be known forever more as the curer of AIDS, a not insignificant advertising issue and couldn't use their cure income stream and the loss of their competitors to take advantage of them in other areas?
That's the irrationality you need to believe in conspiracy theories like this. It sounds plausible at first glance, but when you look a little deeper into it it just doesn't bear out. Big pharma are horrible, I don't disagree. They make tiny, tiny modifications to patents so they can extend their monopoly on them, they use poor indians as guinea pigs, they release products into the market that have a high risk profile because the costs of lawsuits might be less than the profits. In short they act the way any corporation acts when there is money to be made. But you have to draw the line at impossibilities.
It's like the incredible amount of people that think the car and gas companies have killed the guy that invented the water powered car. Seriously, many many people believe this. Just because it seems easier to believe that big money is stopping a (seemingly) obvious solution even in this age of the pentagon not being able to keep off wikileaks.
