yes, I've heard from many sources that London is very expensive...
same as Moscow...
anyway in my city you can rent average flat for ?150-250 (depends on size, quality and location), utility bills are around ?100, food (depends on what you eat) but ?200-300 should be enough... (you can get a lunch for ?3.5 to ?5 in restaurants or hotels with daily menu, or ?10-30 for other restaurants) fast foods are ?1-3 (pizza, burgers...)
leaving the city is free
you just need some kind of transportation like bus (?5-10) to nearest city or airport or to rent a car ?15 for smart, or about ?25 for bigger car...
so about ?500 would cover the basic things...
