Also, Obama is playing it cool and not saying anything (smart) so he does not give fuel to the republicans. Once he gets re-elected he will do the same as Clinton did and crunch down on most things like we wanted. |
Obama knows there are two scenarios that work well for him. If the economy improves he will likely win because he will take credit for it and it will be hard for the republicans to say, "sure, things are good, but they could be better with us." Secondly, if things improve some, but the republicans do a bunch of dumb stuff he could be in good shape. The republicans were voted in because people saw the democrats as not doing enough to help the economy. If the republicans don't keep their promises and at least try to get things passed that will help the economy it will hurt them. If they try and fail they can always blame the democrats and use that against them, but if they don't try and just spend the next 2 years fighting with the democrats and blocking everything people will be pissed.
