US customs policy suck too. Even if you're just a connecting passenger, you still have to go through immigration, and haul all your bags with you. Then for example, you have a 9 hour layover in LAX, but can't check-in until 3 hours before your flight, so you're stuck lugging your shit around for 6 hours.

No other country in the world does that. They let you stay in a secured area, keep your luggage for you, and let you get drunk & eat while you play on the internet, until you're ready to board your flight pissed and ready to pass out. You stumble onto the plane, wake up at your destination, and onwards with your life you go.
