Yes, SITES that ripped people off with tons of hidden cross sales and banged their credit cards did cause miss trust with customers purchasing online.

If you want to blame everything on one person or cause, blame cheap bandwidth. That is more of a cause for free porn than greedy affiliates. Free porn has always been around but it was only in the format that made it possible to exist financially. It was too expensive to host several minute long video clips on tgp sites back in the early 2000's. Even back in the late 90s if you had a lot of hi res images and you got slammed with TGP traffic you were making sure you made enough off of it to pay your hosting bill. As bandwidth prices tanked it made it possible for tube sites to give it all away for free and make money from the advertising.

Not to mention how many times I came across a program that was paying revshare or a modest PPS would have 2 or 3 cross sales, or later found out were banging people's cards. They were still make $150-$200 off of the initial month, not counting any rebills and only paying the affiliate a small part of that through revshare or about 1/2 of the first wave of charges through pps. Trust me, it is greedy/shaddy company owners that fucked it up if anyone.
