I got the 27" quad core 2.8GHz i7 last December (released late November) and well, it's still top of the line - the built to order i7 today has only had a speed bump to 2.93Ghz... iMacs revision was last november

but yes, you're right - never buy a mac that hasn't had a major revision in the last 12-18 months
