A Mighty Wind

I saw this film, tonight. I loved it!

Those of you familiar with Christopher Guest might be afraid that A Mighty Wind is going to be "This is Spinal Tap Goes Folk" but it isn't. The movie is original and witty, definitely a worthy addition to the credits of both Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy. The cast is fantastic, each person perfect in his role. Most times I come back from a movie feeling that there was at least a little something missing but this movie didn't have that effect on me.

An additional treat is the music in the film. The fictional folk bands put on top-notch performances with some really enjoyable tunes. The bands and their background stories are also very amusing.

If you have the patience and temperment for semi-cerebal mockumentary, don't miss this. There are very few movies that I recommend with any rea; enthusiasm, but A Mighty Wind is one of them. Don't go if you're only into action or slapstick because you will probably be disappointed. Otherwise, don't miss this film!

Bonus: There is a scene in this film that gave me the biggest real laugh I have had in a couple of years; the kind of laugh that just keeps going to the point where you have to make a conscious effort to stop it. Keep an eye out for the scene where the prissy theater manager and the anal retentive music organizer are going over the details of the theater decoration and stage props.
