After WWII, the US became a Superpower. And let's face it, the Military Industrial Complex was in full gear. Fear has always been used to keep people in line. From being threatened with ex communication by the Church during the dark ages, to getting groped by TSA at the airports today. I don't care to have our service members fighting in the Middle East, but I am also pragmatic enough to know that if they didn't, our way of life would end.
