As for what people feed their dogs I was amazed that most people feed their dogs FAR too much food. My friend is a breeder and a trainer and has two golden labs of her own and they only eat 2 cups of kibble a day, once in the morning, once in the evening and thats it. These dogs are HUGE too (meaning healthy and muscly). Cheaper dog foods you have to feed them more because they are not getting enough out of them. Go with the good stuff and you will not have to use as much and you will save money over all even because of that.

My friend alternates between Acana Grain Free and Orijen, all canadian made so not sure if they have the equivalent where you are at, but heres the website anyway.

I agree, but it depends a lot on how well the food is digested, too. My 15lb rat terrier eats two meals of 6oz each a day. More on active days, less on lazy days. She's pretty good about only eating when she's hungry.
