i'd say it will need to have the rear u-joint broken and prolly the front as well, yank the drive shaft and replace. if it went past the front u-joint that can be a nightmare. + getting that wire off the part of the differential and after the u-joint will take some work. there are seals and such all over that area, you can't just go in there with a torch blazing, those seals are heat sensitive.

I would still say, the bulk of it can be cut away, if you know what you are doing with a torch
