A corporation's (Legal Person) Resident Agent is a (Real Person) that is in the jurisdiction of incorporation whom will accept any "Legal Service" upon the corporation.
In others words, he is the person to accept any legal documents (e.g., summons and complaint (a lawsuit)) against that corporation ? he is that corporation's representative.

You are 100% correct. The term "proxy" is used in those countries which have a strong foundation in British law and is essentially interchanbeable with the USA term "resident agent". Neither have any power within the corporation though and as you wrote, only accept mail and service of legal process for the corporation.
