It's a Car, not a Trireme, Stupid!

I saw it coming. This 50ish woman came to a rolling slowdown where her street met the highway, and turned onto the highway, right into the right rear door of another car. The rammer's front bumber remained attached only at the right corner, and she pushed the other car into my lane, sideways, directly in front of me. The whole thing didn't even hit slow-motion in my brain, because it was all happening so slowly to begin with. I casually manuevered around the car on its left and continued on my way, watching my rearview to see if anyone was hurt. It didn't appear so, so I didn't bother to slow down.

Seriously, if the peons don't have better uses of their time than to play tag with their cars, so be it, but they shouldn't expect me to play with them. It's staggering to think just how horribly some people drive. As if they weren't uncoordinated enough, they make sure to distract themselves in both thought and deed while trying to command a vehicle more sophisticated than they are.

So here's this 50something year old woman, who probably wasn't blessed with an abundance of input-computing brain power to begin with, trying to divide her attentions between changing the radio, applying her makeup, and yapping on her cellphone, all before she's had the necessary 8 cups of coffee and 4 cigarettes to wake her up out of her sleeping-pill induced slumber from the night before. She's probably suffering through hot flashes, a straying husband, and a meaningless job. Let's just say, her mind wasn't on her driving.

Gee, I wonder why there are no women in NASCAR.
