It hit me at 58 and the chemo and radiotherapy are a real bitch for any form of cancer in the throat.

The chemo had me throwing up all the time, my appetite dropped I was on pills to keep eating, my drive went out the window, coordination so bad I couldn't drive and energy sunk to a low that had me sleeping 16 hours a day.

That was the good part.

I suspect it's where Micheal is today. Next step is far worse. Radiotherapy.

Radiotherapy makes chemo look like a cake walk. They put a mask over your face to keep you still then the radiation sets about burning out the inside of your mouth and part of your throat.

The white bandage on the top of my stomach is for a tube direct into my stomach, so I can be "fed". My throat swelled up so much it blocked the pipe down which I swallow. After 20 months of finishing radiation I am just able to swallow very liquidized food. Soups, stews, etc. The inside of my mouth is fucked because the saliva glands got burned out and unlikely to return. Anything dry is tough to swallow and with a lot of flavour it burns the inside of my mouth. For instance chocolate is off my menu and everything above it.

Shitty images shot with a cell phone. We only have cell phones to phone people. Figure that out.

So that's what the guy is going through. Not sure if he's into radiation yet and has that coming. The odds on him ever getting back to full health are LONG.

I look upon it as being given a second chance at life and still here to love my family, tease my daughter and annoy the fuck out of trolls here.
