As for powder cocaine addicts, well, one is typing this post, been there done that, got the tee shirt. (Clean and sober 14 years)
Every day people choose to spend $$ on drugs rather than on child support, or food. Sure there are many recreational drug users that deal with life just fine, good for them. Most do it in the privacy of their own homes, and no one knows the difference.
But for every one of those, there are 10 out of control loonies that would rip off their own mother for a fix.

1st point... Ever hear of the "3 strikes" law? That ain't no slap on the wrist and it takes away the judge's ability to use common sense in sentencing.
As for being a cocaine "addict". Whatever man. Maybe you were psychologically addicted. But physically addicted to powder cocaine? You would be the first person I've ever met who pulled that off. And not freebasing? Just snorting a line? You somehow got "addicted"? I guess it's possible....I know people who are seriously addicted to Dristan nasal spray too.
And the last two paragraphs I quoted of you: Replace "drugs" with "alcohol" or "gambling" and you get the same b.s.
I'm for FREEDOM. Not the govt. or YOU telling me what I can do with my own body.
