MILLIONS of people do recreational drugs with nothing bad happening. A tiny, tiny fraction of people are drug ADDICTS. They are born with a predisposition to addiction. It doesn't matter if it's drinking, smoking, recreational drugs, or prescription drugs...the small percentage of folks with that physiology are going to get addicted to something no matter what. I have a brother who is like that.
But to punish the overwhelming majority of people who can and DO get high without being "addicts" or whatever worst case scenarios you can find is total BULLSHIT.
FAR more people are addicted to alcohol and even worse PRESCRIPTION drugs than recreational drugs.
And for the record...I have toured all over this country in my bands, lived in "coke central" Miami during the 1980's, and even toured Peru (best coke I've ever done) in 1984.
Out of millions of people I partied with over the last 30 years all over this country, I never met even ONE person who was addicted to powder cocaine.
Crack cocaine? Yep. Meth? Yep.
Powder cocaine. Not one.
Are there any? I've read that. But never saw it.
Saw thousands and thousands of alcoholics. Many who COMPLETELY destroyed their lives.
Do I think alcohol should be "illegal"? FUCK NO. It's none of my goddamn business if a person destroys themselves. Hell, we couldn't be winners in life if it weren't for losers.

Narrow minded, dude, you know nothing about me.
First off, even though my sister died, I am actually in favor of legalizing drugs. Hell the tax revenue would make it so income taxes are no longer necessary.
I was simply pointing out the weakness in your argument, you cannot possibly say that someone getting busted for possession, (which about 100 times out of 99 results in a slap on the wrist) is the worst thing that can happen to a drug user.
As for powder cocaine addicts, well, one is typing this post, been there done that, got the tee shirt. (Clean and sober 14 years)
Like so many that are passionate about an issue you choose not to acknowledge the hundreds of valid points that oppose your personal view.
Every day people choose to spend $$ on drugs rather than on child support, or food. Sure there are many recreational drug users that deal with life just fine, good for them. Most do it in the privacy of their own homes, and no one knows the difference.
But for every one of those, there are 10 out of control loonies that would rip off their own mother for a fix.
My point is still Valid, LL basically told the court to fuck off, and is getting a bit of what she deserves.
