I used to know a witness.
I tolerated him for a long time, because he never tried to push it on me, but we had a conversation once where he made the absolute statement...
'NO Jehovas Witness has EVER abused a child'
I said, really man, how can you say that with certainty? I mean there are many many witnesses in the world, in different locations etc, and you cant tell me that not ONE has ever 'kiddy fiddled' ? I mean other religions have had it happen... But you say that it has NEVER happened, EVER?
He smiled and said, 'Sure, its never happened'
I said how can you know for sure... His eyes glazed over as he gave me a well rehearsed reply...
'Because the second a witness even THINKS of abusing a child... He is no longer a witness'
I just thought OMFG, what kind of twisted logic am I dealing with here? Then I remembered... It was called 'Religion'...
