But how many people actually "crash and burn"
Statistically not that many.
In my travels I've done coke with doctors, lawyers, a couple of district attorneys (who flat told me they would prosecute me if I ever got busted by the cops), school teachers, plumbers, electricians, and many other people from all walks of life.
You're right about a person who is an ADDICT. 100% of the time they are also alcohol addicts, cigarette addicts and addicted to anything and everything they touch.
Also...they are ALREADY getting addicted and already doing all those things even though drugs are "illegal".
How about this...WHEN they actually break into someone's house, THEN we arrest them for burglary. You know, a REAL crime.
Whether drugs are illegal or not does not stop anybody from doing them. The only thing it does is make drug dealers rich because it drives up the price.
IF it was legal...the price would decrease twentyfold.
Maybe that fraction of 1 percent of people who are drug addicts wouldn't have to do crazy shit to get their fix if it were cheap.
One things for sure...the United States is NUMBER ONE in drug consumption.
WE LIKE IT. And nobody and no law is ever going to stop people from doing what they want.
I loved the line from the first episode of "Boardwalk Empire" on HBO. Prohibition had just started and the crime boss raises his glass and toasted: "To those beautiful ignorant bastards in Washington D.C." because they had just made him wealthy by driving up the price of alcohol twenty fold. And of course....violence and crime followed because of all that money at stake.
Sound familiar?
