Actually they can be compared as an equal rights under the protection of law issue(14th amendment). And while you think they can't be compared I beg to differ. For many if not most sexual orientation was not a choice much like their race. This is a civil rights issue plain and simple. You can argue against it but almost all the other modern militaries of the world have integrated gays OPENLY into their armed services. The only thing that is holding the US back is good old baseball, apple pie, and homophobia. Mainly the last one.
