Ours was in a dark hallway, so we had a b/w one. It was older but clear enough to see what was going on. The hallway was about 50-60 feet long and I could see who was walking towards the front of the club (from the general shape) at any distance.
If you're looking to read what's being written on a computer screen, probably won't work, but if you are worried about someone pocketing your shit or abusing your kids, you'll definitely see that.
Other benefit of the wall mounted camera is that you get a wider perspective opposed to something sitting on a table.
The one we had was also battery powered and wireless. Put a nail into the wall, set it up on your computer and you're done.
The ones you can see on your phone are $1,000+. We had that system at the last club I worked at and it was irritating getting picture messages from the GM telling me that the camera adds 100lbs, but you could still tell who it was on the phone.
