Reddit.

Although they're in financial trouble right now as well with funding and whatnot.

The thing about Reddit is that you have to force yourself past the simple userface. It took me a while to get use to as well, but its the community that really makes Reddit great. A lot easier to hit the front page if you're in it for the traffic and not the personal experience too.

You can go there and ask some random question and usually get 50+ answers no matter what it is: http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/ or you can go read about people you may have never otherwise given a second thought about: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/ - In fact there is probably a subreddit with a nice community for just about anything you're interested in: http://www.reddit.com/reddits/

I was a Digg guy for the longest time until I finally realized Reddit was getting the same front page stories three days before they would ever hit Digg. And the general IQ of Reddit seems to be 50 points higher than that of Digg. Haven't looked back since.
