How old are you as a matter of interest? I find it is usually guys over 40 that think vinyl sounds better. Not being patronising, I'm 39 this year and I know my time is running out in terms of hearing! Esp as I played in a rock band my youth!
Here's the skinny. It
doesn't sound better. Wanky audiophiles with pre and power amps and monster cables claim it does. Guys over 40 think it sounds better cos it makes them remember first getting the music bug when they were younger.
But when you are old enough to afford monoblocs and pre amps your hearing is too fucked to hear anything much.
I used to work in consumer tech and was at a trade show in the late 90s where someone was demming a 1
million pound stereo. monobloc amps, turntable, speakers cable.
It was OK.
Vinyl is nice because it is tactile, it has large sleeve notes, artwork used to be stunning, etc etc. But all that doesn't make it SOUND better.
And as I said, your ears probably can't tell the difference if you are over 30.
