Some people love to believe in myths and fantasy. Our civilisation is based on it, religion.
So they invent myths. Loch Ness monster for instance. The fact is there's not enough food in there to sustain a large creature all the year round. Not the faintest bit of evidence at all. But it does not stop people believing it exists, fueled on by those with a financial benefit to be gained.
Same goes for Big Foot, Yeti and countless other myths.
