That is the idea of crate training. The dogs won't pee in there because that is where they live/sleep. It is their "cave".

The last thing you want is your dog peeing in the crate. We had small dogs and were told by a reputable trainer to even stuff a pillow inside to make the crate smaller so the dogs did not have room to walk/circle/squat/pee inside. And it worked great, dogs were fine.

That crate is going to become that dog's cave. We kept our crates and the dogs love them. Took the wire doors off and we will find them snoozing in them, hiding when something scared them...it is a place for them to escape and feel safe. Not pee in. ;)
