Honestly, with IDN TLDs in the works, which is what I'd expect most of Asia to want to use once they're out, .asia will seem really stupid considering not a whole lot of Asia even uses the roman alphabet let alone speaks English.
You could certainly try to counter them, but a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. That's not a bad offer for that domain...I personally would take the money and run and invest it into more solid extensions.
