I also think those page-over ads are an instant red flag for a potential customer. Right away you are telling them you are trying to sell them anything you can sell them instead of letting them know "Hey, these are the best sites out there that you need to join" There is a fine line between a sale and scaring someone off
As TeenCat said... try some new and unique sponsors...and look at your stats to see what is converting best for you and work within that niche.
