Some time around the 60/70s we started giving out more and more for "free". Its a couple generations since then and it's been on an exponential growth rate which will be hitting a critical mass in the next 35-50 years if something drastic doesn't change.
Look around, the people who can't afford kids are having them like rabbits and the people who are more educated, not on govt programs are having at most 1 or 2 kids on average, if any.
The family in poverty that has 5 kids and neglects them, gets free money and blames the govt instead of themselves TEACHES those 5 kids to go out and do the same and in 20 years they each have 5 kids they are teaching to do the same.
If the US govt doesn't hold people responsible no one will. We need to stop rewarding people for THEIR bad decisions. I am all for providing them the tools to change it around. I would be fine with paying them to go learn a skill vs paying them to sit on their ass and do nothing. People need to earn every penny they get or they will never have a sense of worth or ownership.

I so agree. I dont mind my taxes paying for someone to get out of a tough spot, but put a limit on it. There are families that have never had a job, diploma or anything for 2-3 generations, all they do is live in the ghetto in small apartments popin out babies every year for more money. It is a scurge!
