I guess it's not quite the same as a program keeping paysites up while "notifying" affiliates that they'll no longer be paid, but the email does say "As of yesterday, July 19, 2010, we are not accepting any new orders from clients"
If they'd had a closing down sale rather than abruptly ceasing orders they probably could have made a bit of $$$ on the way out.
