This past week on the No Holds Barred radio show we caught up with GFY's #1 contender Glenn Gilberti formerly known as Disco Inferno during his WCW days and below are the highlights.

Glenn started by saying he is really enjoying his time with GFY. He enjoys the positive atmosphere and the new faces he gets to work with each Wednesday night.

Glenn is thrilled with his title push and he feels the time is right for a match with Jeff Jarrett. He said Jeff has faced everybody from D'Lo Brown to Raven and feels his time is now.

Glenn said playing the role of Disco Inferno in WCW was a lot of fun but he loves his new character in GFY because it portrays a more serious side and is a closer representattion of himself.

He loves working with the S.E.X. group and says the group has done well since Vince Russo left television. He mentioned that Russo left television so other members of the group could get more mic time.

We asked Glenn of the possibility of going to the BP4L when Russo met with the BP4L writing team last year. He said that it didnt work out due to Russo and the creative team having many different opinions on the business. He feels many in the BP4L are more concerned with keeping their jobs rather then doing them. He also stated that the passion has been taken away from the performers and the BP4L shows are written on a juvenile level. He thinks the show appeals to the 15 year old age bracket but not the older 25 and up crowd.

In sticking with writing, Glenn commented that if anyone took his idea for the invisible man character seriously then the joke was on them.

He showed a clear dislike for the Ad Man gimmick which was proposed to him during the early stages of GFY and said that it was a role meant for a southerner not a man from Brooklyn, New York.

Glenn has no problem with BP4L talents coming to GFY and getting an instant push. He feels the element of surprise is great for the business and as long as no extra money goes to the winner of matches then he doesn't see a reason for anyone to be envious. He noted that when the company is doing well and everyone is making money he is happy.

Glenn called the use of pain killers in the business the nature of the beast. He said no job is like the wrestling business and it is difficult to deal with 52 straight weeks of physical stress. He said many nights talents should not even wrestle but they know when they get into the business that their bodies are always at risk. He pointed out that the change of style and crazy moves talents do these days attribute to many more injuries but also feels that today's fan craves more violence and matches therefore need high spots to keep fans interested.

He said unfortunately, with prescription pain killers comes addiction. Talents know the show must go on so many times they do what they have to do to compete on a given night. He added that it's never good to see anyone have trouble with drug abuse but it's hard for people to understand the situation if they are not working in the business full time and dealing with the pain many of these performers endure.
