You would probably be best seeing what works best for your site and your traffic. I've seen it work better under each circumstance for different sites.

Trial or not, I think leaving the long-term option is a good idea. More people sign up for those then you would imagine. Just like the full month subscriptions, a lot of people sign up for those. Higher percentage than what many would think.
