The Death Road from Pasto To Mocoa, Colombia
Not my pic, for some reason i never took photos of the road.
When we came up from Ecuador we hit the town of Pasto and decided to cut across the mountains heading east to get to Mocoa and San Agustin.
This was around 2006 and people were saying the FARC/gov wars had died down so we thought what the hell.
The road turned out to be pretty hairy. Mostly dirt road and not big enough for two cars to pass. So we were on a bus and about midway thru the bus swerved inward to avoid going off the cliff and we hit the side of the mountain, broke out one of the passenger windows and dented the side of the bus.
After I cleaned my pants we sat wondering if we were going to make it to Mocoa. Was never happier to see a town in the distance as we approached it.
Turned out it was one cool Amazon town, great people and interesting night life. Everyone cruises the main drag at night on motorcycles and mopeds, having a grand old time.
