I honestly don't think the iPhone sucks at all. What I do not like is having to go through iTunes for everything, no Flash, no way to remove the battery, no memory cards, weird proprietary connectors, and how Apple controls what apps can be put on their phones.
The bottom line is there are some great Android phones now and for the first time Apple has competition. This is good for everyone.

These are all totally valid concerns and decision making attributes for sure.
For me personally, I don't care about the battery... never had a need to remove it and with the iPhone 4 the battery life really is fantastic. No memory cards thing doesn't bother me either as I've never had a need... the internal storage is quite enough for my needs and tethering for transfer works for me too :P
I am NOT however an iTunes fan and I don't like Apple's policies concerning apps. However that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make for the benefits I enjoy... namely:
- The app selection and games (great dev support and some really high quality stuff)
- The screen, OMG the screen, the pixel density is so high for the first time in my life I can't make out the individual pixels! I'm a graphics whore and this just totally feeds my inner geek.
- The form factor, I love the iPhone's form... totally a personal preference
- 720p video capture... always with me all the time, love it
- Facetime rocks, I know a lot of iPhone users and we all use it, lots of fun
- The UI... I MASSIVELY prefer the iPhone's UI to Android, I can't stand the Android browser or even the UI, I feel it's definitely lacking... once again, I'm a graphics whore... I'm also a UI nut...
I understand that these aren't decision making factors for everyone but they are for me and I'm tired of people saying the iPhone 4 sucks... CLEARLY it does not. Just as clearly Android doesn't suck either they're both great products... I'm also a HUGE fan of the new Palm UI.... gorgeous and I love the fact that the PalmPre has touch sensitivity outside the actual screen... I really like the way they've implemented it so that swipes outside the screen effect the OS rather than the window you're currently in. I feel like this UI feature is more intuitive than any other smart phone UI...
