The sun is banging out enough light to give an FStop of F11-13 at a 125 shutter speed. A camera falsh is best at F4.5 to F8 at 60. Most pro photographers will have a generator and use studio lights, to give the power/light required.
Also he is moving around to lots of different locations and getting varying light.
Tom photography wise, good pics in difficult circumstances.

Agreed. One more thing...Since Unseen is shooting with a Nikon D100 now, he may want to check out some of the other metering modes. The Spot Meter can be very handy in these situations.
No Paul, he probably does not use a hand held meter.
