Two words: Unemployment and foreclosure
Impoverish that same "self-adsorbed" man and then throw him and his family out onto the street and you've got yourself one pissed off motherfucker. Multiply that by tens of thousands, potentially hundreds of thousands, and you've got your foot soldiers for a possible revolution.
All that's missing is the sort of charismatic rabble rouser that can sell them on a quick solution.
