J. Robert Oppenheimer was Jewish and head of the Manhattan project (atomic bomb) and was one of a 100 scientists who made the first atomic bomb. The US spent 5 billion dollars in 1945 (23 billion US dollars today) and after we dropped it he was caught giving the plans to the soviets.

And for all those who think Americans were first to give an atomic bomb to Israel is wrong. The Israelis were given the plans for a nuclear reactor and supplied material (France) for a weapons contract in the 60's that we Americans subsidized unknowingly.
