In general I agree, however, I have had many opposite situations.

It is also true that being calm and collected with some people causes them to think
you don't take them seriously or you're being arrogant or a smart ass.

I got stopped at a DWI check point, rolled down the window and smiled slightly.
That smile resulted in the cop telling me he was going to impound my car.
I said "no you aren't" and other cops on the scene got everything straight and
I drove off. My car would have been impounded for no reason if that cop
had been alone.

I guess he thought I was smiling because I had something to hide and thought he was
stupid or something.

I've had cops pull guns on me and hand cuff me but I swear that non of those
cops were even close to being as big a dick as the cop that wanted to impound
my car because he didn't like my smile. The other cops made a mistake while
doing their job; but that one cop wasn't doing any job. He was just being a dick.
