Even though they couldn't obviously cast Pat Morita for the Miyagi given he's dead 'n all, Jackie Chan being the Miyagi seems more wrong to me. Chan's movies are entertaining but his antics do not belong in a Karate Kid movie. I'd have preferred a more serious actor...hell, even if it was Jet Li but with age makeup on or whatnot, I don't care, just someone more serious than Jackie Chan. I'm afraid it'll be a Chan movie and not a KK movie.
The jacket part in this new one is sooooooooooo shitty compared to all the chores and stuff Miyagi had Daniel do in the original only for Daniel to find out he was learning discipline and karate moves in one subtle fell swoop. It was the build-up of Daniel's frustration which the audience felt too since it's "Karate Kid" and there was no fuckin' karate happening, lol.
