Today, we are all so hooked into these fucking machines, there's no way out even if we wanted to get out.

Try backing technology (and the Internet in general) out of your life today and you will be seen as either:
1. a crazy tree-hugging hippie going off to live in the forest
2. Someone trying to disappear from society for dubious reasons
3. an uneducated barbarian that should be mopping bathrooms at the airport

My entire fucking life is locked inside these machines. Everything from, all my photos, taxes, every document I've ever had since birth, business, personal correspondence, addresses, phone numbers,... and that's all before we even get to the Internet!

Banking, investing, entertainment, continuing education, vacation planning, travel arrangements, social interactions.... you fucking name it. And I've never even used Facebook or Twitter or any of that shit. I don't even know what those sites look like. But if my machines were suddenly destroyed in a fire or something, I would be quite crippled... in the real world.

The simple truth is just as you said.... people simply have way more shit goin' on these days online than jerking to porn. I think, the act of "being online" has become very stressful for a lot of people as well because of this. Personally, I don't watch porn. But if I was going to, I would want to be chilled the fuck out when I do, like lounging on the sofa watching it on one of the MANY channels available on tv. Not sitting in a fucking office chair with a monitor in my face.

But that's just me.
That's very true,

As a result, I'd say people also spend way too much of their free time in the virtual world nowadays

Imagine the amount of time a regular person wastes on something as unproductive as for example:

- stalking pics of someone you're too scared to invite out, or watching other people's life instead of living your own
- moronic internet arguments with people you don't even know over totally impotent subjects such as politics
- contributing to or "fighting" the web 2.0. idiocy in general and thus effectively becoming a stellar part of it

As a result you're feeding your brain with web2.0. rubbish, instead of keeping it somehow conscious.

I've caught myself doing all the things above for a while before I realized how totally worthless and idiotic this is.
