Waste of energy too. Big drain on society.
Most people don't know what to do, don't have habits or routines in place to deal with this extra energy. Physical exercise or the gym can be good, but exercise and meditative-type physical activities that allow you to also let energies settle that aren't currently needed are most beneficial (as they won't be distractions and lets your mind be clear to think with more clarity when you're indeed thinking).
Anyway.. 2 cents. Do yoga, is all I'm saying.
