So they either have the money and are just taking it without paying affiliates or they were really that shitty at managing money.

And I know a lot of adult companies that make bank that have none left cause they pay themselves ridiculous salaries with their huge houses and cars. Yes, this still happens. One lost processor, one lost bank, one lawsuit, they'd be done ... no money to pay it.
