I didn't catch the official statement either.... then again they have probably made about a million and it's not like any of us read them all. However, as stated it was in a Seminar that they said it.
When Photoshop first came out, it wasn't really better than Paint Shop Pro - actually it wasn't a "web graphics creator", it was a Photo editor and sold as one.
Photoshop was later pirated... mostly by Graphic Designers, Design Companies and Web Developers - which turned around and purchased it, after it was made better.
Anyone else, didn't care to learn how to use it, so they weren't a factor either way.
