Don't underestimate the power of the human brain... it can make some people think people are standing next to them and speaking to them, when nobody is around.. it's mighty powerful.
Your body can't defy the laws of physics no matter what you want to believe. When you are alive, you are burning energy. Period. Without a positive balance of energy (through the intake of calories from macro nutrients, burning of stored sugars, muscle or fat) you will have a negative balance and eventually get sick and die. End of story.

Your body is mostly water. Your brain is mostly water. Your blood is mostly water. You lose water with every heartbeat and every breath. Without an adequate intake of fluids, you get sick and die.

If you are alive, you are burning energy. End of story.

Putting someone under observation for 10 days is hardly proof of 70 years of anything. There is an obvious reason he wasn't under observation for 2 weeks or 3. He would have died.
