I agree about aol ... but IRC can get as advanced as you can handle.
Thats what led me into programming way back in the day! I started out scripting for Mirc and it lit a fire under my ass. Next thing you know i was in school for business application design and web development, heh
IRC can be for newbies, but it can easily get very very advanced
