Profiling is illegal... ie: Mexican walking down the street and you stop them for no reason.
And like myself in Canada, when they did an inspection - I was the guy that didn't sound Canadian. Was it racial profiling? No - but they profiled me.
I have a friend from S. America and he lives here, not as a citizen but legal... and if he breaks the law like anyone else he will be asked for his ID - and his citizenship won't come into question because he can produce an ID - an illegal can't.
If he is standing in the mall with his wife and they profile him, they're going to get sued. If he is standing with a bunch of dudes in a back ally, late at night - he should get profiled.
And even if profiling happens - the person will have an ID if they are legal - by law... I say they raid S. Tucson and clear the place out, then move to the next city.
