If you can spend the money, go for an indoor pool surrounded by glass walls (or at least glass on two connecting sides).
I've never had an indoor pool but I have had plenty of outdoor pools. Having to wait for it to warm up enough to use is a bitch - especially during indian summer when it gets warm for a week.
With an indoor pool though you wouldn't have the extra maintenance of cleaning out all of those damn leaves and bugs - you could just go jump in it anytime you wanted to without having to skim the surface for 15 minutes first so that big nasty half-dead wasp doesn't get into your hair and decide it's you he's pissed at.
Look at it this way - you can either spend the money and go indoor, or you can *not* spend the money and then spend hours upon hours of extra maintenance on the damn thing.
Once you pay yourself a wage for the time spent on extra maintenance *and* figure in the bonus of getting to use it year-round, indoor isn't so expensive after all.
PS - be sure to get one of those that have a little hooked-on hot tub at one end. Good for romantic evenings and for resting the bones after hitting the slopes all day!
