All writers are different and so are their styles. I enjoyed reading his books but wouldn't say he was a great writer. On the other hand, books like The Stand are really excellent reads. I happen to really enjoy the Dark Tower Series...and well Ken Follet writes a damn good book. Ever read The Key To Rebecca? I would suggest that for sure.

How about Life Of Pi by Yann Martel? Some people absolutely hate the book - while I enjoyed it.
