I grew up in an all black area and I was the minority growing up, and this was the 70's when racism was huge in NYC. People did not even call the cops back then you just argued with one another and sometimes it turned violent. Then at 16 moved to an all Italian area and talked people out of chasing people out of the neighborhood if they were other races. I knew how they felt... I do remember that Break dancing and basketball blended us all together.
Now I live in an all Spanish area and I get called "white boy" in Spanish at least once a week.
